QA Senior Engineer vs Assistant Manager 5 to 7 yrs exp The Role Shift: Senior Engineer vs. Assistant ManagerAs a Senior Engineer: You focused on solving the technical problem (doing the 8D, running the CMM, checking the $Cpk$).As an Assistant Manager: You focus on systems and people. You review and approve the 8ds, ensure the QA lab has the right resources, manage auditor interactions, and develop the team. JD: Key Responsibilities 1. Team Leadership & Shop Floor Management Supervision: Manage a team of QA engineers, inspectors, and lab technicians across shifts. Allocate resources to support production schedules. KPI Ownership: Track and improve plant-wide quality metrics like Scrap Rate, Customer PPM (Parts Per Million), Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), and Supplier Quality. Training: Build training matrices to ensure inspectors are calibrated on defect limit samples (e.g., establishing clear boundaries for visual defects like silver streaks or sink marks). 2. Customer & Supplier Quality Management Escalations: Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality complaints. You will defend your plant's CAPA actions directly to major clients (OEMs). Supplier Audits: Oversee supplier performance, ensuring raw material resin batches and masterbatches (colorants) meet specifications before hitting the silos. 3. Advanced Quality Planning & New Product Introduction (NPI) Trial Approvals: Participate in mold trials (T0 to T1/T2). Approve or reject PPAP packages based on dimensional layouts and capability studies. Risk Mitigation: Lead cross-functional reviews of Design FMEA (DFMEA) and Process FMEA (PFMEA) alongside Tooling and Processing Managers to catch molding constraints early. 4. Quality Management Systems (QMS) & Compliance Audit Ownership: Act as a key lead during external audits. Depending on your facility's sector, you will own compliance for: IATF 16949 (Automotive focusing on strict traceability and core tools). ISO 13485 (Medical focusing on cleanroom protocols, bioburden, and strict validation). ISO 9001 (General manufacturing). Regards, Nedhra - HR All the best
