Role Purpose The Production Engineering Department (PED) is responsible for defining how a product is made. In the Roll Production unit, the focus is on transforming raw materials (often steel or metal bars) into finished rolls or cylindrical components through processes like forging, machining, heat treatment, and grinding. 2. Key Responsibilities Process Planning: Develop and optimize manufacturing process flows (SOPs) for roll production, from raw material receipt to final inspection. Tooling & Fixture Design: Design or specify the necessary jigs, fixtures, and cutting tools required for specific roll geometries. New Product Introduction (NPI): Work with the Design team to ensure "Design for Manufacture" (DFM). You will lead the "trial runs" for new roll types. CNC Programming: (If applicable) Create or oversee CNC programs for lathes and grinding machines to ensure high-precision tolerances. Cycle Time Reduction: Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and implement Lean manufacturing techniques to reduce waste and cycle times. Quality Control: Collaborate with the Quality department to resolve rejections, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and implement Poka-Yoke (error-proofing) solutions.
