Line Patrol Quality Inspector Process Consistency

Line Patrol Quality Inspector Process Consistency Job Description The Patrol Inspector (In-Process Quality Inspector) in the Quality Department of Manufacturing Industries is responsible for performing continuous, scheduled floor audits across active production lines, machining centers, and assembly stations. Operating directly on the shop floor, this role conducts periodic verification of machine parameters, operator setups, first-off parts, and ongoing component quality during live production runs. The Patrol Inspector identifies process drift, tool wear, and operational deviations early, preventing high-volume scrap generation and ensuring continuous compliance with process control sheets. Responsibilities: Conduct hourly and periodic patrol inspections across assigned shop-floor lines, verifying that production adheres strictly to Control Plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Perform "First-Off" (first piece) inspection and sign off on setup approvals before operators begin mass production following tool changes, shift handovers, or machine resets. Measure component dimensions, surface finishes, and mechanical tolerances using hand-held precision instruments (Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, plug/thread gauges). Monitor machine operational parameters (temperatures, pressures, cycle times, feed rates) to ensure they match approved process parameters. Stop production immediately upon detecting non-conforming parts or out-of-spec process drift, tagging non-conforming lots and issuing Red Tags for quarantine. Maintain real-time patrol inspection logs, statistical process control (SPC) control charts, and line rejection records at designated quality stations. Coordinate with line supervisors, machine operators, and tool room personnel to perform initial root-cause analysis (5-Why) and verify immediate corrective actions on the floor Skills: strong hands-on expertise in shop-floor quality control, patrol audits, and in-process quality inspection in manufacturing settings. proficiency with engineering blueprints, technical manufacturing drawings, and the fundamentals of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). practical knowledge of surface roughness testers, functional gauges, limit gauges, and precision measuring instruments. working familiarity with sample selection, 5S concepts, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) charting on the manufacturing floor. Strong decision-making abilities to confidently stop production when quality standards are not fulfilled We invite you to apply and explore this exciting opportunity! Warm Regards, HR - Maria
